We have so much beauty envy for Becca and Mitch's wedding in Door County that we can barely contain ourselves. With so many gorgeous details it's hard to know where to begin, so we'll start with the obvious: the dress! Becca looked stunning in a structured strapless gown with a mermaid silhouette. The groom went toe-to-toe with his future for-life mate in a dashing tuxedo. Details throughout the day were modern and glamourous, and even better, infused with special meaning to the bride and groom. From the Bride:
When we got engaged, we knew right away that we would get married in the church where I grew up by our family pastor. With this came the opportunity to show off beautiful Door County to many people who have never experienced all that Wisconsin has to offer. Although my parents still live in Wisconsin, Mitch and I now live on the east coast. Mitch grew up in Maryland, and our friends and family are spread across the country and globe. With the goal of giving our guests a spectacular view and Door County sunset, we quickly selected Horseshoe Bay Golf Club for our reception, which is perched on a bluff overlooking the bay.
Our approach to planning was to complement the natural beauty of my hometown while bringing in details that are special and meaningful to us as a couple. Our style is not very feminine and romantic in the traditional sense, so we opted for decorations and details that felt more “us”–classic and timeless but with a clean, modern edge. We added little details that are special to us, even if guests would not realize the significance–a necklace worn by the women in my family at their weddings for generations, olive leaves in our floral arrangements and on our invitations as a nod to some of our favorite vacations together, and a macaron tower as a little taste of our honeymoon. I own a watercolor commission business, so I designed and painted our invitations, maps for out of town guests, and other details to bring personal touches to our wedding. The majority of our vendors were family friends, which made our day feel more intimate. I got ready in the home where I grew up and my family neighbors were even generous enough to host Mitch and the guys before the wedding. In the end, the little details that are special to us all played a part in telling our story.
