Take your idea of having to carry a traditional flower bouquet down the aisle, and, well, toss it. Milwaukee-based Mark the Occasion Designs, which serves brides throughout Wisconsin and Chicagoland, hand-crafts bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres from materials with meaning.

Provide your own fabric—the dress (the one with the broken zipper) from your first date, your mother's veil—or choose from materials at designer Maggie Joos's studio. Through varying textures and colors, Joos can arrange a personalized bouquet that, unlike perishable flowers, will last forever.
