How High Definition Videos Affect Your Makeup

Q. Our videographer plans to shoot in high-definition. How will that affect my makeup?

A. While HD videography shows greater detail, Amy Johnson, owner of Madison’s One Fine Day Productions, says brides don’t need to change much about their wedding-day makeup. In fact, preparing can be as easy as having a professional do your makeup to get a natural, clean and well-blended look; mascara clumps, caked-on foundation and ragged eyeshadow borders are more easily detectable in HD. But remember: “The idea of having a videographer is not to make a movie of the day, but to document the day as it happens,” says Johnson. That means extreme zoom-ins will be minimal.

Johnson adds that it’s also possible to add different effects, such as soft focus, to soften the skin and even it out if needed. In short, says Johnson, “If you have the option for HD, do it. It’s worth the investment.”
