Four years ago, Julia Moon and Simon Scarlett’s online connection led to a coffee date—one that ended after eight hours of laughter, conversation and excitement. One year later, Simon asked Julia’s father for her hand in marriage while standing on the dock of Lynx Lake at her grandfather’s home in northern Wisconsin. (The pair met in Australia, where they continue to live.) Julia has many fond summer memories from this lake, which now include exchanging vows with her beloved. Family and friends from across the globe arrived at the ceremony via pontoon boat and were escorted to white wooden chairs near the water’s edge. “The most special part of our day was the simple realization that we had people who love us join us from all over the world to see us be married at my grandfather’s home,” says Julia. “From the moment we were engaged, we always imagined our wedding day on the lakeshore, and it did not disappoint.”
