A Casual Engagement on the Capitol Lawn

Trends

When in need of the perfect backdrop for a couple's photo session, Madison offers many unique locations in a relatively small area. But topping the list is definitely the Capitol Building. It's iconic, grand, and elegant, but is also the setting of many fun, laid-back events in the city. Meghan and Brad wanted a location that captured their everday life, so it's no surprise that they selected the very venue of Concerts on the Square, the Dane County Farmers Market, the Taste of Madison, and not to mention four amazing blocks of delicious restaurants. I love how beautifully Aliza Rae Photography captured the juxtaposition of the couple's casual vibe against the more stately feel of the building itself, which is very much what Madison is all about. For a couple that met and fell in love in this city, they couldn't have selected a better spot for their casual engagement session.

From the bride-to-be:
When it came time to choosing a location for our engagement photos, we knew Madison was the perfect spot.  After all, it's where Brad and I first met and fell in love. After many (eight) blissful years of dating, Brad (finally!) asked me to marry him while on vacation in Mexico. It was perfect...sunburns and all.

In the midst of all our wedding planning, it is important to us to keep true to ourselves and remember the real reasons behind our wedding day--one being to celebrate our love and commitment! And what not a better way to start doing so than with our engagement pics. We communicated our desires to Aliza to photograph us in our everyday elements: enjoying the outdoors and basking on the Capitol lawn. Aliza did not disappoint. She delivered beautiful and memorable photos for us to enjoy for a lifetime. She captured the love, happiness, and comfort we share when together.  We cannot wait to see what she captures on our wedding day!
