Engagement in Aisle 2

Trends

For some people, grocery shopping is a chore. But for Colleen McIntyre and Mike Wisniewski, their supermarket  was the solution to what to do when wanting engagement photos in the dead of a Wisconsin winter. Creativity is at this couple's core--both with a marketing background--so they paired up with a photographer friend and made their way to the market. We should note, though, this ain't your average grocery store. Atari consoles, retro furniture, and big game trophies add a lot of visual interest to freezer sections and bakery cases. Then again, so does this couple. Can't. Get. Enough.

From the bride:

When Mike and I got engaged ,we both knew we wanted to have a little fun with our wedding planning--especially our engagement photos. We both work in marketing and my now-husband is especially good at the big ideas. He suggested we do a photo shoot at Koppa's Farwell Foods & Fulbeli Deli because it had its own quirky charm and we both love going there for their amazing sandwiches (seriously, so good. My favorite is the Saturn, his is the Bread Favre). We didn't really have to bring any props--the mismatched chairs, Atari game console, and taxidermy were all there. We just asked if we might pop in to take a few photos. The owners were gracious, and we shot while people were shopping one evening. We just played around with what was there but made sure to put anything we used back where we found it. Our friend, CJ Foeckler, a freelance photographer did us a favor by shooting our photos for us--and going along with our weird request! Best of all, we all had a lot of fun being weird and just playing off of our surroundings. The more you laugh and relax, the better your photos will be.
