Alexis and Eric's Icy Elegant Winter Wedding

Elegance can come easy to a Wisconsin winter wedding, with its fresh blanket of gleaming white snow, crisp air leaving wedding party members and guests rosy cheeked, and sparkling icicles hanging from buildings and bare trees alike. When Alexis and Eric planned their winter big day, they made sure to play up these cold weather elements, and did so in stunning form. Alexis paired a family friend's fur wrap with a classic satin princess-style gown that fit her perfectly. Eric and his groomsmen looked chic in their blue-gray suits, and the bridesmaid added pops of color in rich eggplant. Vintage crystals and beautiful white blooms dotted the reception decor with a nod to snow and ice. The chilly special day is sure to warm your heart. From the bride:

A January wedding is always a risk in Wisconsin, but our gamble paid off. It was a little nerve wracking to watch the weather reports the week before the wedding but a blessing to have a mild January day.

My vision for the wedding began with my dress. The simple luxury of ivory satin accented with beaded crystals helped set the tone for the day. Wanting to avoid a wedding that looked like a Frozen theme; I chose eggplant lace bridesmaid dresses with a full knee-length skirt to contrast to the classic elegance of my gown.

The reception décor was inspired by bare winter trees. My parents actualized my dream by harvesting well over two dozen trees ranging in height from 8 to 15 feet. They were spray painted gold, coated with German glass glitter and hung with a mixture of vintage crystals and glass icicles that sparkled in the spotlights concealed in the custom Dad-built planters. The white tabletops were accented with gold lace doilies and eggplant linens, topped with traditional five almond favors. We gave a nod to winter with baby’s breath floral centerpieces.

The most memorable part of the day was marrying the man I love. We felt fortunate to be surrounded by family and friends: graced with fair winds and safe travel.
