Amy & Garret
August 20, 2011 at Heartwood Conference Center and Retreat in Trego
Amy Rabe and Garret Janzen’s wedding day wasn’t just for them, it was for everyone who attended. “We felt it was important to celebrate not just us, but all our loved ones,” says Garret. “It was our hope that they would feel part of it and realize how important they have been in our lives.” The couple hung photos of their friends and family and featured images of guests in a dinner slideshow and on flat-screen televisions in the dance room. Amy and Garret also invited their families, including three siblings each and eight nieces and nephews, to play a role in their big day. Additionally, Garret (a third-grade teacher), had asked his students to dole out their best bits of wedding advice. He gathered the responses, and together the couple chose the best ones and put them on cards for use in the reception. If a guest wanted Amy and Garret to kiss during dinner, a clink of a glass didn’t cut it; they also had to read a quote.
