Garden Ballroom Wedding

Taylor Palmisano and Blake Anderson may be proof that beautiful things can come from “ugly sweater” Christmas parties. “I met him and thought he was totally cute, but I was too nervous to talk to him,” says Taylor. “I was so excited the next morning when he called and asked me to grab coffee.” Five years and three cities later, Blake took the stage at an event at the Governor’s Mansion on Lake Mendota and asked Taylor to marry him. Their big day took place at the Historic Pritzlaff Building, setting the stage for the couple’s “rustic chic” theme. “We didn’t want it to be overly elegant, so we found a venue that added some heavy industrial elements to balance the blush pastel tones and crystals” of the décor, says Taylor.

In the gorgeous setting, guests couldn’t get enough of the delicious comfort-food menu the bride and groom had planned, which included a few of the couple’s favorites from past dates: Tater Tot appetizers, sliders and mini grilled cheese sandwiches. Paying homage the couple’s first date, when they met for a cup of joe, a coffee bar offering specialty drinks such as white-chocolate mochas and sea-salt caramel lattes gave guests the extra pep to keep the party going. When it was all over, their big day proved to be one steeped in romance and brewed with love.
