Getting Married in a Winter Wonderland

If there is one thing that Wisconsin does really, really well, it's provide cold, snowy weather--and lots of it! It seems prettiest to me in December and January, offering the ideal backdrop to what the holidays should look like. It's picture-postcard perfect, so it's no surprise that Karissa and Brent played up this seasonal scene on their special day.

When it comes to winter weddings, this one is pure perfection, and Nikki N Photography amazingly caught each magical moment the couple shared with eath other and their guests. The event took place on New Year's Eve, and the gold-and-black color palette felt appropriately holiday-esque, but also truly elegant at the same time. But what I can't get enough of is the bride and her girls' attire. The goddess-style gowns and handmade crowns by local Icing 101 Etsy shop owner Hannah Irlbeck are breathtaking all on their own. But then add in the fur stoles against the snowy scene and you've stolen my heart. Get ready to be swept away in this winter wonderland wedding...

From the bride:

We knew we wanted a New Year's Eve wedding just hours after getting engaged. We knew it would be cold, we knew we wanted a non-traditional wedding, and we knew everyone would have an amazing night! We wanted our family and friends to have something to dress up for on NYE this year and to have a night to remember--and that's exactly what they got! The black and gold theme combined with the country barn gave us the opportunity to work with a blank canvas and create our dream DIY wedding. We couldn't have asked for a colder or more perfect evening to start our marriage together and kick off 2014.
