Jessica Mott and Andrew Wickstrom didn’t set out to have a “green” wedding, but with their October nuptials, the Chicago-based couple realized a dual dream by celebrating their love while sustaining the environment. The couple, who met in college and decided to marry after spending an intimate Thanksgiving together in 2007, limited their environmental footprint in several ways. Guests were treated to locally grown food from Underground Catering, dined on homemade desserts, sipped on local beer and enjoyed edible apple centerpieces from Door Creek Orchard; meanwhile, the groom made the wedding programs from recycled paper; The bouquets and boutonnieres were created with flowers from organic grocer Trader Joe’s, and recycled burlap dressed the tables. Jessica even purchased her Alfred Sung gown from  Cynthia’s Consignments, a Chicago resale shop. As an especially poignant touch, Jessica and Andrew’s ring bearer passed around the couple’s wedding rings on a handmade pillow before the ceremony and asked everyone to bless them.
