Kate & Bret
Kate and Bret met at the University of Arizona in Tucson where both were working towards Masters degrees in Wildlife Ecology. Five years later, in October of 2008, the couple was back in the badger land when Bret proposed with his grandmother's diamond ring at Kate's family farm in Jonesdale.
In August 2009, Kate and Bret hosted a small, intimate wedding with around 60 guests from all over the country. The easygoing event was held at the historic Plum Grove Chapel and rustic barn of Folklore Village in Dodgeville. The personal ambiance didn’t end with the guest list: a good friend of the couple officiated the ceremony, they exchanged personal vows and decorations for the ceremony included hydrangeas from Kate’s sister’s garden.
Between the ceremony and reception, guests played lawn games like badminton, Frisbee and Bocce ball as a fiddler continued his music and wine and local beer were offered. Then Madison’s Cajun Strangers kept guests packing the dance floor all night–what Kate calls the best part of the evening.
