Red poinsettias and gleaming white lights greeted guests at the New Year’s Eve wedding of Kelly Peterson and Laura Linneman. The ceremony was a family affair with readings from the couple’s godparents, music by Laura’s cousin, and the Lord’s Prayer sung by Kelly’s brother and his girlfriend. Even the mink coat Laura slipped on to ward off the winter chill was a gift from Kelly’s grandmother, and originally belonged to his great-grandmother. R&D Banquet Hall created a sea of deep red, black, and ivory for the reception; tables were adorned with candles, flowers, and vases with rock salt and birch branches holding votive candles. Guests enjoyed a feast of chicken wellington with champagne gravy, and filet mignon; the event finished deliciously with white cake frosted with almond buttercream. The 300-plus guests later celebrated with sparklers and an outdoor champagne toast as they watched the ball drop in Times Square on TV.
