Meena & Alec
Meena Roell can thank an American Lit class for her fairy-tale ending. Alec Brinegar had been eyeing her all semester, and he finally worked up the courage to talk to her after class. Th e rest, as she says, is history—until the proposal, that is. Alec asked for Meena’s hand with an heirloom ring, but the bride-to-be accidentally washed it down the bathroom drain. Luckily, fate intervened, and a skilled plumber who happened to be working on the weekend saved the day. On their wedding day, fate was on their side once again, this time ushering in a 70-degree day in October. (Meena had lugged in 50 pashmina for guests to wear just in case the weather didn’t co-operate.) The couple’s black and white theme prevailed throughout the day, from the bride’s Reem Acra gown, Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toe pumps and all-white bouquet to the eclectic black and white pattern in the linens from BBJ Linen and stationery by Milkmaid Press. The American Club, which handled the catering, cake and flowers, created a whimsical cake that mirrored the flower girls’ precious polka-dot dresses from Little Flowers by Odyssey. The best man’s sidesplitting speech, as well as a chance to get silly in the photo booth from Photobooth Scrapbooks, kept the guests in stitches.
