Melissa and Brandon's Winter Wonderland Wedding in Lake Geneva

As the snow continues to fall throughout Wisconsin, we may be thinking spring, but still can't ignore the beauty that is a winter-white wedding. Melissa and Brandon wanted to capture the magical quality that comes with a fresh blanket of snow and quickly decided that a lodge-style wedding reminiscent of a classic Christmas movie was the perfect setting for their love story. Melissa's elegant lace gown was made only more stunning by a white fur wrap to wear outside on the snow-covered hills. Brandon was a dashing groom in a sharp tuxedo and made the perfect complement to his beautiful bride. Pops of soft purple in the flowers, decor and bridesmaid dresses brought the whole theme together in a sweet way. Kristina Lorraine Photography was tasked with capturing all the lovely memories, and she did so brilliantly. Come take a stroll through this winter wonderland...

From the bride:

A winter wedding, there’s just something so magical about it. It could be the romance of a groom and his bride, a perfect white dress, surrounded by fresh, fallen snow as far as the eye can see. Just the two of us in a special moment after sharing our vows, a moment that comes to mind every time it snows, reminding me of the most perfect time in my life. I wanted those memories of just me and my husband, away from the hustle and bustle of a busy wedding day; a moment for just us two.

We decided on a winter wedding almost immediately and knew that we needed a lodge that would be reminiscent of my favorite holiday movie, White Christmas. Hawks View Golf Club wast just that: a large, wooden lodge with a floor-to-ceiling fireplace and a welcoming feeling as soon as you walked in. It was perfect, with twinkle lights, candles everywhere, and the warmest feeling inside with snow covered hills outside.

I wanted all these moments captured elegantly in our photographs and so I was on the hunt for a photographer that would be able to do just that. A month later, I found Kristina Lorraine at a bridal show in January. I knew almost instantly that she was “our photographer.” I saw one picture and fell in love with her elegant photos and classic styling. In the weeks before the wedding, Kristina met with my husband and I, and we discussed all our ideas and options for our photographs on the big day. "Winter Wonderland" was the inspiration we were going for, a fur stole over my dress, delicate sweaters for the girls, and s’mores favors for our guests.

The day of the wedding we got lucky with 32 degree weather and fresh snow making it a stunning winter wedding in Wisconsin. After the wedding had come and gone, and my dress was packed away, I had the most beautiful photographs from our day. From the church, to the flowers, to the boots, and rings, all of our special details were right there for us to cherish forever and warm our souls.
