Expert Advice:

  • Whether heels or flats, your chosen shoes should be worn around the house in advance to ensure that aching feet won’t blot your wedding day.
  • Adding a pad beneath the ball of your foot can keep a slightly too big shoe from slipping off—many shoe stores (including Macy’s shoe department) hand them out for free.
  • A shoe a bit on the tight side can be stretched with a shoe stretcher found in the closet section of stores or in organizational stores. Some manufacturers recommend shoe stretching sprays, available at specialty shoe store
