Across a sea of students at a staff meeting at the University of Wisconsin-Madison rec center, Tayelor Neiss and Casey Jehn locked eyes and were drawn together like magnets. “Basically, it was love at first sight,” Tayelor recalls. The two became inseparable, and after about a year of dating, they moved in together and got their puppy, Rizzo. Fast-forward: A photographer Tayelor knew when they were children was holding a contest for a photo-shoot giveaway, so Tayelor entered—and won! She and Casey went to the shoot and were taking pictures at Klode Park, where they had shared many college dates, when Rizzo bounded up to Tayelor with a sign around his neck that read “In case you didn’t know.” The rest of the proposal was a blur, Tayelor says, but it ended with Casey on one knee, Tayelor in tears of joy and family members joining them to celebrate. The pair shared their first dance to “Speechless,” by Dan + Shay, a tune Casey would often sing when he thought of Tayelor. The ceremony was a fusion of Catholic and Lutheran traditions; the newlyweds also plan to honor Tayelor’s Korean heritage with a trip to South Korea for a second ceremony.
