Dresses for all Sizes

Q. My bridesmaids range in size. How can I choose a dress so each girl looks her best?

A. Luckily, brides are finally starting to move away from the one-dress-for-all look, opting instead for designers and lines like Lula Kate, Coren Moore, Simple Silhouettes, and Alix & Kelly, which offer dresses in the same color and fabric but with a variety of skirts, necklines and hemlines.

“The idea of wearing the same dress is not passé,” says Erin Casey Wolf, who owns the Milwaukee and Chicago Bella Bridesmaid stores with her mother, Kathleen Casey, but “more attention is being given to choosing something more chic and stylish.”

If you do prefer the one-dress-for-all approach, Casey Wolf suggests choosing an A-line cut, which tends to be universally flattering. Another option is a wrap dress by the designer twobirds, in which one size fits most (plus size is now available, too) and can be tied more than 10 ways.

“At end of day, they are your best friends, cousins, family,” says Casey Wolf. “They should feel stylish and empowered, so why stick them all in the same dress? Let them show off their personalities.” bellabridesmaid.com
