A little hometown pride can go a long way, and in Door County, that means cherries. “My mother-in-law loves all things cherries, and because our wedding was going to be so intimate, it allowed us to have more fun,” says Whitney Gorman, who featured many cherry-inspired details in her August wedding in Door County.

That included Vivienne Westwood pumps with a cherry accent that Gorman found on eBay and had shipped from England. At brunch, guests enjoyed cherry mimosas, Door County cherry-stuffed French toast and cherry preserves made by her mother-in-law. At an evening beach bonfire on Whitefish Bay, guests enjoyed miniature cherry pies and played beanbag toss with custom-made boards with artwork featuring Wisconsin with a heart over Door County.

“When it comes to adding local flavor, if you inundate the wedding with too many details, it isn’t as impactful,” says Gorman. “It’s best to do it with small pops of accents and really allow guests to take it all in.”
