Tell your love story with an illustrated motif throughout your paper pieces.

{1} Mike and Jessica Clark, the creatives behind Clark Creative, fully understand the preparation that goes into your big day. In fact, these retro-glamorous invitations are from their own wedding. Designer and bride Jessica infused her suite with an Art Deco aura: geometric shapes, clean lines and sleek grays tempering playful pinks. This tied in perfectly with the 1950s theme of their reception, where the tables were named after ’50s songs (each table of guests had to get up and dance when their song was played) and name stickers were affixed to whimsical pink lollipops.

{2} For designer Jodi Passwaters, a reverence for nature not only manifests itself in her hand-drawn illustrations, it’s also a way of life. All of Rethink Ink’s invitations are printed on 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper, and minimal ink coverage means less waste produced in the recycling process. All paper scraps are reused, recycled or shredded for her chickens’ bedding. “I’m just trying to do my small part in supporting a system that I think has the greatest impact on the health of our environment, communities and families,” she says.

{3} Katie and Emmitt Houston describe themselves as “lovebird kind of people.” Early on in their courtship, Emmitt surprised Katie by handcrafting dozens of origami cranes, writing little love notes on each wing, then strategically placing them around her apartment. With that kind of history, they came to stationer JoAnna Gibbons of J. Invites knowing that origami cranes had to be the focus of their entire wedding suite, from escort cards to thank-you notes. Gibbons took it from there, translating the sweetness of their romance onto paper.

{4} When a Bay View couple met with Angela Pea Paperie expressing a deep affection for their community, designer Ang Curro headed to the site of their upcoming South Shore Park ceremony, drew the lakeside scene by hand, then scanned it and rebuilt it in Illustrator. The addition of a striking red Badger State graphic let the numerous out-of-town guests know this wedding was unmistakably Wisconsin. “Most Wisconsinites are not here by accident,” says Curro. “They love this state and everything it has to offer. That’s why we put it front and center.”
