Allison & Eric: Northwoods Nuptials at Holiday Acres Resort
When you get engaged atop a 14,000-foot mountain like Allison Lorenz and Eric Niebler did, it seems only fitting that your wedding features rustic elements and natural beauty. This Colorado couple married at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander, a town where Allison’s family owns a home. “My grandparents’ cottage holds a special place in my heart, as I grew up spending summers there, and it’s actually the first place that Eric met the whole family,” says Allison. The couple’s northwoods nuptials included family and friends, some traveling from as far away as Norway.
Mother Nature treated the bride, groom and guests to a beautiful summer day, perfect for the lakeside ceremony where the couple exchanged vows beneath a birch arch. At the reception, each personalized table featured a photo of the newlyweds from trips they took together. Guests received pine tree seedlings to take home as party favors, and the wedding party celebrated with a horse-drawn wagon ride after the ceremony. The evening was capped off with a sparkler send-off as the couple drove away in a convertible—the same car Allison’s parents used at their wedding. When the couple finally had the night to themselves, they parked beneath the clear, starry sky and reminisced about the best day of their lives surrounded by friends and family.
