Oh la la! What could be more romantic than a marriage proposal on a bridge in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the background? Joey Broms had planned his March 2019 proposal to Lindsay Stephan, right down to reading an original poem, with a secret photographer standing by, ready to capture the proposal for posterity. The couple met in 2016 at an internship at Caterpillar in their hometown of Peoria, Illinois; they grew up only 15 minutes from each other and even had mutual friends, but didn't meet until their internships. Lindsay took the initiative, emailed Joey for a date and their love story began. Friends, family and pets were an important part of their wedding day. Joey’s best friend from high school officiated, and another friend sang a song he wrote with Joey. Signature drinks were named after their dogs: a Sullivan James (bourbon old-fashioned) and a Heidi Ru (raspberry gin fizz). The couple chose rich, autumnal colors with touches of gold throughout, with vintage accessories picking up gilt tones. “The day went by in the blink of an eye,” Lindsay says, but their “first look” in Viking Park lingers as “...a quiet moment, just the two of us, where we were able to take a deep breath and hold each other as singles one last time.” Another memorable moment: Their sparkler sendoff in a classic 1920s Cadillac.
