Ceremony & reception: Wandawega Lake Resort, Elkhorn

Honeymoon: France

When Sarah Lock was a child, her family vacationed every year at a camp in the Adirondack Mountains. She dreamed of having her wedding there one day—but the camp was sold in the early 2000s. When Sarah and fiancé Steve Atherstone began looking for wedding venues, they searched for something that would capture the essence of the camp she so adored. As soon as they set foot in Camp Wandawega, it was love at first “site.” The wedding was filled with revelry, with guests enjoying the camp all weekend long. On Saturday, friends and family gathered for the ceremony, which took place in the camp chapel in the woods. The ceremony was an artful celebration of love that found Sarah’s cousins reading an excerpt from The Tale of Peter Rabbit and her uncle playing an acoustic version of Peter, Paul and Mary’s “Wedding Song.” After the ceremony, the couple hosted a cocktail hour featuring their signature classic cocktails: Fly Away with Me Aviation and You’re the Mint to My Julep. The formal dinner, catered by the Black Sheep, was followed by a night of dancing, laughter around the bonfire (complete with sparklers and glow-in-the-dark jewelry) and plenty of s’mores.
