Dreamy Sailboat Elopement at the Apostle Islands

Real Wedding

Found easily at Lake Superior, earth, wind and water were the inspiration behind this styled elopement shoot. An intimate and adventurous wedding was set above the water on striking cliffs, with the horizon providing a breath-taking backdrop for the reception.

Below, Emily Jeffress, owner of Lace & Brass Events, LLC, discusses the three elements that made this styled shoot unique.

{earth}: All of the pottery was custom made by a local artist, who uses Lake Superior sand and local clay. The beeswax candles were hand poured right on Madeline Island. The earthy tones of the dress, florals and décor match perfectly to the sea caves and cliffs of the Apostle Islands. The ceremony and dinner table were staged on the cliffs of Madeline Island overlooking Lake Superior.

{wind}: An exquisite 57’ luxury sailboat sailed our (real) couple to Madeline Island from Bayfield, Wisconsin. The wind we see beautifully in the waves of the dress, her flowing hair and the draping fabric on the ceremony arch and dinner table.

{water}: The necklace, ring and escort cards were all made with Lake Superior agates. The jewelry was made right here in Bayfield, Wisconsin. While on the sailboat the water reflections were ever changing, especially during sunset.
