Kat Gottlieb of KatBlu Studio is obsessed with the endless
possibilities of laser cutting. Intricate snowflakes, lace, fans and
scrollwork gates embellish her line of invitations, favor boxes and menus.
“Designing for laser cutting is really like sculpting something out of paper,”
she says. Her shop and studio are in Appleton, which has a proud history of
papermaking. Reviving this historic industry with cutting edge technology and
modern design is “a full circle thing for me,” says Kat.
Her designs combine many different processes: letterpress, foil stamping, digital printing, raised printing,
antiquing and laser cutting. All create something totally customized for each
customer, resulting in wedding invitations as unique as you are.
