Katie and Nick's Awe-Inspiring Autumn Wedding in Door County
Who needs coloful decor when Mother Nature can deliver so much pretty in the way of fall leaves. Katie and Nick chose the perfect weekend to share "I dos" in Door County, with the trees popping at the season's peak. The couple played up the gorgeous natural backdrop, incorporating the autumn splendor into their florals, tablescapes, and personal big day touches. The bride looked lovely in her figure-flattering lace and bead adorned strapless gown, and the groom was her perfect match in his handsome tuxedo. Flanked by a wedding party in this year's popular marsala color, there was beauty everywhere you looked. Come see the amazing job The McCartneys Photography did capturing this special event, and get ready to fall in love with fall all over again...
From the photographers:
Guests were welcomed to Katie and Nick’s wedding ceremony with two stunning fall-inspired floral wreaths decorating the front doors of Ephraim Moravian Church. After a beautiful ceremony overlooking Ephraim, the entire wedding party gathered below at the volunteer Ephraim Firestation, where Nick's father so honorably served. One photo we hoped to get was the entire wedding party in front of the station, which is located right on highway 42 in probably the busiest part of Door County. As we were arranging Katie and Nick and their awesome wedding party, the traffic just stopped! As in, LINES of cars were graciously waiting for us to get all the photos we needed! Yes, Katie and Nick stopped traffic on their wedding day on one of the busiest Door County weekends of the entire year!
Katie and Nick's wedding was blessed with rain but you would never know it from the looks on their faces, or the faces of their guests. From the moment we arrived to the walnut cabin at Gordon Lodge in Baileys Harbor where Katie was getting into her dress, we could tell the only thing that mattered was that Katie and Nick were tying the knot. They were both exploding with joy and we know that is so true to the way they live their lives, too. Their happiness is contagious! Katie and Nick's non-stop day of celebrating also included a tour of the county via the Door County Trolley winding through Peninsula State Park with every colorful back road they could find on the way from their Ephraim ceremony to the beautiful Gordon Lodge reception awaiting them.
Katie and Nick described their wedding as classic mixed with rustic elements--“rustic elegance”--where they planned to include the richness of fall colors through their florals, linens, and escort cards. They also used birch wood as table numbers in their centerpieces to incorporate both of their personal styles into their wedding. After sweet and entertaining toasts with tears and laughter, Katie and Nick enjoyed adorable cupcakes and danced the night away with all of the guests, who weren't the least bit shy about crashing the dance floor!
