Mimi & Jim

June 26, 2010 at Lake Park Bistro in Milwaukee

After more than five years of dating, Jim Rogers proposed to his college sweetheart Mimi Johnson with the aid of two little helpers. Jim enlisted the twins that Mimi babysits to come to her office with him to help present two kid-drawn signs of Mimi and Jim in love, a bottle of champagne bubbles and a large, plastic ring before he dropped to one knee. For their wedding, the couple chose a casual day of celebration. Lake Park Bistro hosted a lunch reception before the party continued at Mimi's childhood home in Lake Country. Mimi's parents hosted a truly Wisconsin party–including local beer, a cheese table, brats and a Culver's frozen custard sundae bar. Considering they both work in politics, cardboard cut-outs of the Obamas even made an appearance. Before mini-mooning in Chicago, where Mimi and Jim toured some of the Windy City's best restaurants, the couple departed their reception in a light-strewn boat as well-wishers waved atop a hill.
