Abby and Joe Reel in Each Other for the Perfect Catch

Real Wedding

Abby and Joe's country chic wedding was filled with lovely rustic details that were beautifully captured by James Stokes Photography. Pops of mismatched vases, decor, and hand-picked flowers gave a shabby chic feel to a sunny day event. But nature was the star attraction when the bride and groom rowed onto the lake for some light fishing and adorable shots as newlyweds. Come see all the personalized details needed to inspire ideas for your own Wisconsin big day...

From the Bride:

Joe and I went to the same high school, though we were a couple years apart. Our younger sisters were good friends. We had one class together and Joe caught my eye, but I was a shy sophomore, and, with the exception of my googly eyes, nothing ever developed. Years went by. I went to college in Green Bay while Joe lived the bachelor life, hunting and fishing to his heart's content. After college, I moved back to our hometown where we ran into each other and started talking (at the urging of our sisters). The rest, as they say, is history.

As we planned our wedding together, we wanted our choices to reflect who we are as a couple. The decorations were simple, many flowers were handmade or collected from various yards of family members. The wedding ceremony included a unity tree where we watered a maple tree together with water from our mothers. The tree not only represented our love of nature, but the growth of our love and life together. It is now planted in our front yard where we can watch it grow. We wanted a relaxed, fun reception with live music, and that is exactly what we had. The Youth Exhibit Building at Rosholt Fair Park provided the perfect setting, and with ideal early June weather, our wedding was exactly as we hoped and dreamed.
