Emma and Gibson's paths crossed when they both moved to Chicago in 2020, and throughout their relationship the pair took many trips to Emma's beloved family cottage in Egg Harbor where Gibson eventually fell in love with the natural beauty and charm of Door County. After a romantic proposal in Hawaii, choosing a venue for their wedding day was a no-brainer. Emma's family had purchased the century-old property, Braes Lodge, and lovingly restored it, making the property the perfect spot for Emily and Gibson's celebration. Their wedding date was similarly kismet, September 13th was both bride and groom's parents' wedding anniversaries, which extended the celebration across generations.
Following a meaningful ceremony conducted by a priest from Emma's hometown, loved ones were greeted by an outdoor cocktail hour where the signature cocktails were Wisconsin and traditional Old Fashioneds. Inside the historic lodge, the dinner scene was painted with soft greens which were complemented by ivory hydrangeas and roses as well as gilded candelabras and warm candlelight.
Moving back outside for dancing, the tented space was truly opulent, with sparkling chandeliers and foliage hanging over velvet lounge seating and a classic black-and-white checkered dance floor. An eleven-piece orchestra scored the evening, from the dancing to late night cigars. And for the grand finale? A surprise fireworks show organized by the bride's father, which called back to Emma's cherished childhood memories of Door County summers. —Ryley S. Hoff
