College friends Clare Miller and Matthew Keck decided to try dating near the end of their student years in North Carolina. Matthew proposed not long after, taking Clare to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a hike the day before her birthday. “We were at an overlook with panoramic views, and he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him,” Clare says.
Their Milwaukee wedding was an elegant affair that had the feeling of an intimate family gathering, as they invited all immediate family to dine together at one long communal table. One special moment, Clare says, happened right after the ceremony, before the guests filed into the entryway of the church. “Matthew and I had a moment for the two of us. I realized it was just the beginning for us,” Clare says, “and it was beautiful.”
