Honoring their love for the outdoors and how they met, Lauren Flood and Jefferson Hankins chose a lakeside retreat on the shores of Eagle River for their small wedding. The two met during a cabin weekend planned by mutual friends, where they spent time canoeing and chatting by the campfire. Jeff trekked from Milwaukee to Madison to take Lauren on their first date at Monona Terrace; two years later, he popped the question at the same spot. The ceremony was the definition of up-north Wisconsin beauty, with the lake as a backdrop and an arch made by Jeff’s dad. The friends who introduced the couple participated in the ceremony, with one officiating and the other doing a reading. Their five nieces were flower girls, while Jeff’s nephew served as ring bearer. Although he’s reluctant to admit it, Jeff shed a few tears when he saw Lauren walk down the aisle in a stunning tulle gown with floral appliqués. After the ceremony, Lauren and Jeff hopped in a canoe to enjoy the lake, just as they did the day they met. At day’s end, Lauren’s mom surprised the couple with a dessert table of their favorite treats, featuring a macaron tower topped with a delicious homemade cake.
