Wedding: October 7, 2017
Ceremony & Reception: Lac Lawrann Conservancy, West Bend
Honeymoon: Negril, Jamaica
After getting engaged on a beautiful hike to the top of Potato Chip Rock in San Diego, it’s no surprise Katie Schultz and Ryan Maass chose a nature preserve for their wedding day last fall. The couple, who have been together since meeting through friends in 2010, planned to say “I do” in the picturesque outdoors, but Mother Nature had other plans, so the preserve’s onsite center served as a last-minute ceremony location. The weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the happy couple or their guests, as they enjoyed a night of barbecue, laughs and dancing in a rustic barn lit up with the glow of string lights. A highlight of the day? The personalized aspects of the event, with Ryan, Katie, and family and friends creating the signage, floral arrangements and décor—including building an arch and handcrafting 30 rustic wood benches for guests to sit on during the ceremony.
