Ceremony: The Grohmann Museum, Milwaukee

Kenzie Hoefs and Erik Grohmann began casually hanging out when she was a freshman and he a sophomore at UW-Eau Claire. But after Erik joined the Marines at the end of the school year, distance kept the relationship grounded before the two finally realized they were meant to be together. The long-awaited wedding ceremony took place in the rooftop sculpture garden of the Grohmann Museum in Milwaukee—a particularly special venue, as this area is typically off-limits for nuptials. But when the groom’s grandfather is the collector and donor of the art collection making up more than 1,000 paintings and sculptures, a few strings can be pulled. The result was a romantic, dreamy event that felt private and intimate despite the backdrop of the bustling city. “It’s hard to put words on the whole day, but everything was exactly how we wanted it to be,” says Kenzie, who felt the love everywhere among the guests assembled to celebrate their union.
