Wedding Date: July 6, 2019
Catherine Snow took the phrase “love thy neighbor” seriously when she met her downstairs neighbor Ben Miller their sophomore year at the University of Dayton. Their neighborly friendship turned romantic when Ben asked Catherine to be his date at a family wedding in the summer before their junior year. Eight and a half years later, Ben pulled off the charming proposal Catherine had always dreamed of, when she came home after work to find their dog, Riri, with a ring box hanging from her collar. After his proposal, Ben surprised her again, with close friends waiting to celebrate at a dinner at Pizza Man off Downer, their go-to date spot at the time. The couple’s wedding vision of sexy chic came together perfectly with a black and white design theme. Catherine carried white peonies with pops of green, tall black centerpieces with ferns adorned some tables, while others had mini bouquets matching the bride’s, with candles for a romantic touch; the cake was kept simple, with a fern design to match the centerpieces. The cigar bar outside served dark liquor and included monogrammed matchbooks, an homage to Catherine’s childhood in Chicago, when she would accompany her dad to cigar shops. “I remember loving those boxes and the smells. It was something I always wanted at our wedding,” she said. As the sun went down on their perfect July day, everyone gathered on the dance floor to celebrate Catherine and Ben’s everlasting love.
