Despite rarely sharing the same zip code at the same time, Maggie Burkart and Brad Koch didn’t let distance stand in the way of their budding relationship. While Maggie finished nursing school in another state, weekend drives to visit one another went on for years. But when they were ready to settle down—in the same place—and say “I do,” they chose Olde 41 to host their rustic, romantic-chic wedding reception. “[The venue] backed up to Duck Creek and had amazing wooden beams and a beautiful dual-sided fireplace and lights that warmed the room,” says Maggie. Mother Nature lent a helping hand with the décor, as trees held their leaves just long enough to offer the perfect backdrop to the crimson and navy color palette worn by the wedding party. Gorgeous details like lush florals, twinkling string lights and sumptuous desserts were everywhere, but it’s the memories shared with friends and family—like the bride’s sisters singing improvised Backstreet Boys lyrics, Grandpa sharing his secret to a long marriage, and grandparents slow-dancing together—that the bride and groom will look back on most fondly.
