Kate and Eric met through a mutual friend at the beginning of 2020. Despite the times, their love blossomed. The couple adopted their golden retriever, Madison, a year after meeting, and soon after, they bought their first home as well. It was thanks to their new home and pup that the pair began taking walks in the park in their new neighborhood: the place where they would one day get engaged. Eric planned the proposal out flawlessly, having their family friend and photographer, Sarah Sandgren, waiting nearby to capture the special moment. From the start, the couple knew that they didn’t want a traditional wedding, opting instead for an intimate ceremony at the Milwaukee courthouse with their closest family and friends. Kate chose a timeless silk halter dress for the wedding, while Eric opted for a classic suit and tie, and Madison wore a baby blue bow around her neck. After saying "I do," the small party shared a drink at the Harbor House before joining the rest of their guests at Engine Company No. 3. The reception was casual and designed to keep easy conversation flowing throughout the night; food was buffet-style appetizers, the seating was informal and the cocktail napkins were embossed with a portrait of Madison. The wedding festivities didn’t end there, however, as two months later, the couple and their nearest and dearest travelled to Pistoia, Italy, for a romantic Italian countryside wedding. Loved ones celebrated the pair in a weekend-long celebration full of many magical moments.
Blending simplicity and elegance, this Milwaukee courthouse wedding unfolded into a heartfelt celebration that carried across the ocean to Italy
