Hannah & Johnny: Northwoods Wedding at Spooner Lake
Wedding: July 30, 2016
Ceremony & Reception: Private property, Spooner
Honeymoon: Ireland, Denmark and Iceland
Growing up, Hannah Cooperrider spent every summer at her family’s Spooner Lake property, dubbed “Sleepy Lagoon.” So when Hannah caught the eye of Johnny Lyons in college, it wasn’t long before she shared her favorite summer spot with him. “Johnny fell in love with the beautiful nature and the family aspect of the property early on in our relationship, and very much became an unofficial member of the family for those seven years of dating,” says Hannah. It was a no-brainer to have their dreamy Northwoods wedding there, an event filled with gorgeous details, many of which went beyond pretty décor to tell the couple’s story. Fallen trees on the property were turned into ceremony benches and the ring bearer wore a suit handmade by Johnny—a new skill he added to his bag of tricks; wedding rings were made from twigs from the property. Guests dined on local flavors of smoked trout and regional cheeses, as well as pies made by Grandma (with a little help from the bride and bridesmaids). Bonfires, s’mores, and fireworks under the starry sky brought the day to a close, at which point Johnny and Hannah retired to a canvas yurt tent to camp their first night together as husband and wife.
