Monica and Matt Mielcarek know how to throw a party, and their three-day celebration highlighted their love of family and hometown pride. Festivities began Friday evening with a black, white and denim-themed welcome party, where guests gathered around a lineup of beloved local food trucks. A live band played as llamas and a donkey from a live petting zoo wandered nearby while guests danced amongst tables dressed in crisp linens and red roses. The couple made their entrance wearing bold red, and when “Jump Around” blasted through the speakers, the bride surprised the groom with a special guest: Bucky Badger himself.
Saturday’s ceremony took place on Matt’s family property, in the backyard of the home where he grew up. Loved ones arrived by shuttle and valet before taking their seats along a curved aisle lined with calla lilies, hydrangeas and other airy white blooms. A violin crooned as the wedding party processed, culminating in Monica’s entrance on her father’s arm. She wore the first of three breathtaking gowns—an A-line silhouette paired with a sweetheart neckline under delicate, sheer lace.
After the vows, the curtains behind the altar opened to reveal the cocktail hour, where a seafood tower ice sculpture and a wide selection of hors d’oeuvres awaited. The reception blended elegance with playful touches: a dramatic crystal chandelier above the wraparound bar, a choreographed first dance beneath twinkling lights and a bourbon-and-cigar lounge with college football on TV.
