Ten years ago, when Guthrie Lindquist opened his UW-Whitewater dorm door to a stranger asking to play bingo, his first instinct was to stay in, but after spotting the stranger’s personal care assistant, Sara Loomis, he quickly changed his tune. From that night, Sara and Guthrie’s love story only grew, and 10 years later, on a bright and breezy November day, they were married at The Tinsmith in Madison. Timeless and undeniably elegant in a fitted low-back gown, Sara approached Guthrie for a private first look outside the capitol, her structured double-tiered veil blowing on a romantic wind. Guthrie, handsome and dignified in his tuxedo, was beaming when he turned to see the beautiful woman who was about to become his wife. Framed by floral installations featuring fresh greenery and white roses, the couple’s ceremony was officiated by Guthrie’s former basketball coach and Paralympian, Jeremy “Opie” Lade, who effortlessly combined the couple’s love of sports with their love for each other. Their reception space highlighted an unstructured and organic style of florals among the long tables, which were lit by candles and warm string lights hanging overhead. A plethora of personal touches graced their wedding day, including cocktail stir sticks of their cats Jax and Doja, handmade pies in honor of Sara’s late grandmother and surprise custom Brewers jerseys for Sara’s dad and herself, which led to the entire party singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” Full of love, Guthrie and Sara did not want their wedding day to end, leading their guests to party into the wee hours of the morning in their hotel lobby.
