We love a nautical-themed wedding, complete with anchor and boat decor, and pops of blues to represent water. So we're beside ourselves with Val and Drew's big day, which isn't just a nod to all things nautical, but actually included a ceremony on a pier overlooking the harbor and a reception docked in the marina. The bride looked stunning, swapping white for her something blue with a strapless, breezy navy gown. The groom was seaside suave, in a casual no-tie suit complete with must-have deck shoes. The weather made no waves for this outdoor intimate ceremony, which included a small guest list of the couple's closest friends and family. This marina marriage was stunning and captured beautifully by Indigo Photographaphy. Then again, it was not so formal that the bride and groom couldn't let loose and lend a laugh with their own funny take on the famous scene from Titanic. We love it all, and you will too...

Drew and Val met in 2010 through a mutual friend and the world of blogging, which is also how she met her photographers. Drew was living in SoCal at the time, and Val in Chicago. Their first date was in Vegas for Val's birthday and two years later in 2012, Drew moved across country to be with Val and her two pugs.
Val's family has been going up to Door County a few times per year since she was about three years old. When it came time to get engaged, Drew arranged to propose on Val's favorite dock, Fish Creek--her "happy place." He arranged to have their families there and they all came out to toast with champagne after she said "yes." They all went to Fred & Fuzzies Waterfront Bar and Grill afterward to celebrate with cocktails and watch the sunset.
The two wanted their wedding to be small and special, with only immediate family members there. Lindsay, who married them, is a very good friend of both of the couple and got ordained for the ceremony. It was important to them to spend the day with their role models (their parents), siblings, and nieces and nephews.
The marina surprised the happy couple with the decorations on the dock as they were so excited for this to be the first wedding to take place on Alibi Dock. Jay is the harbormaster and worked with Liz from Harbor Guest House to arrange it all. Val has known them both for years. All of the wedding guests stayed for the whole weekend and attended the Fyr Bal Festival together on the following day.
