Cecilia Kress and Scott Simpson met at their high school’s homecoming dance in their hometown of Madison in 2002. It took them 15 years to reconnect in Chicago, and they spent the next three and a half years making memories together. A weekend in Newport State Park in Door County brought a proposal from Scott and a “Yes!” from Cecilia. Then they spent their secluded-cabin engagement weekend listening to vinyls of the Beatles and John Denver. After walking through the Garver Feed Mill during a stroll in the neighborhood, Cecilia and Scott knew they would get married there — it combined the couple’s industrial aesthetic mixed with modern, sophisticated furniture. “It felt like a great representation of Madison, the city we love,” Cecilia said. They opted for soft, romantic florals inspired by paintings of Paris to adorn the space, set off by the exposed brick walls. As the ceremony began, Scott looked on in awe as Cecilia came down the aisle, her father and mother on either side. “She was halfway down the aisle, and I couldn’t believe how excited I was,” the groom said. “I wanted the moment to last so much longer than it did.” Signature cocktails and late-night pizza made for a festive end to an unforgettable day.
